Folkingham is an important former town which deserves to be better known. This major new work aims to address that by offering an in-depth study of the settlement's 1500 year history, from Anglo-Saxon times to today.

It offers new interpretations and ideas on Folkingham's development together with new primary research.

Running to 320 pages, it is illustrated with over 260 photographs, maps and illustrations, with many of the photos being of rare historic views. It is presented as a generous crown quarto volume measuring 189 x 246mm.

Martin R. Smith is a local historian who has worked for the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments and at Stamford Museum, where he developed a series of town trails. He has had several Lincolnshire titles published, including The Story of Stamford, Stamford Pubs & Breweries, Stamford Myths & Legends and Stamford Then & Now. He also worked as co-author and editor of The Stamford Mercury: Three Centuries of Newspaper Publishing.

It features a Foreword from Dr Anna Keay, Director of The Landmark Trust, who now own the Gatehouse of the former House of Correction, and is supported by a full bibliography and a comprehensive themed index.

The book is produced as a one-off limited-edition hard-back volume of just 330 copies, printed in England to the highest standards. The aim is to offer a really unique high-end product which will stand the test of time and is the perfect gift. It has been litho printed (not digital) on high quality 150gsm sustainable FSC-certified paper, sewn in sections and bound traditionally with red tail bands. It is hard bound in an aubergine Buckram cloth cover with gold tooling. It is presented in an elegant matt-laminated colour dust jacket offset by rich antiquarian-look marbled end papers. The book weighs an impressive 1.4Kg.
